Sometimes, people want to talk about something being really fast. But instead of just saying “fast,” they use fun and smart ways to show it. These special phrases are called metaphors. A metaphor compares two things to help you picture an idea more clearly. It doesn’t use the words “like” or “as” like similes do. Instead, it says one thing is something else.
For example, if someone runs very fast, a teacher might say, “She’s a rocket on the track.” That doesn’t mean she’s really a rocket. It means she moves super quickly. In this article, you’ll read different metaphors people use to show speed. They will help you write and speak in a more interesting way. These phrases are fun to learn and easy to use in school, with friends, or in stories.
